to my fellow mamas

ahonui will be two years old next month. since he was born, i have lost about 30 lbs. sound like a lot? not if you knew how much i actually gained throughout the pregnancy. in my opinion - it's just a drop in the bucket. i won't humiliate myself any further by posting any "pre" and "post" baby pictures. but those of you who know me best will probably admit (behind closed doors, thank you very much) that i don't look the same as i used to. boo-hoo for harm.

so...i would like to know how you other mothers out there do it? don't feel restricted to just dishing out the weight loss secrets - any busy mom knows that shedding these unwanted pounds is just one of the many battles that we must fight after having a baby. time scheduling, raising your child(ren), church callings, finance budgeting, keeping strong relationships (friends, other family, and marriage!), household chores, meal planning, and the list goes on. my goodness, do i sound like an adult or what?! responsibility can be so deceptive.

on my quest for maternal perfection, i was watching TLC's "17 kids and counting" and noticed how the mother of soon to be EIGHTEEN CHILDREN speaks to her kids - even the little ones during discipline. she explained that "each child is a gift" and was such a christ-like example of love, patience, humility, and kindness...some attributes that i would really like to aspire to as a person and especially as a mother.

so perhaps one day...with all of your help, we can get there together!

I'm still struggling with the whole weight thing too! I started walking but then it rained and I stopped. haha. I should start up again. But what I think we need to do is just MAKE time for some form of exercise for at least 30 minutes! That's like a tv show!! AND we have to eat healthy. See, I know what I need to do...i just don't. haha. Well good luck!!

I know how you feel! I gained 70 lbs during my pregnancy because I was on bed rest!! I'm not ashamed to admit that I wasn't as careful as other mothers. My son is 7 months now and I've managed to lose 51 lbs but the secret for me was to just walk at least once a day for 30 minutes and cutting down my calorie intake. The point is, don't give up girl, every little effort counts. So yeah, if you need a work out buddy, I'll be more than happy to be there!! okay sis. take care!

I wish I had some advice, but I'm definitely struggling just like everyone else. One thing with time management is that Sundays are key! My Sundays often end up being too "restful" and I make up for it by being too busy the rest of the week. When I use Sundays to do little things I've been meaning to do but haven't made time for during the week, rather than sleeping, things have less of a tendency to get out of hand. They're just little things: meal planning, making a shopping list, going over our monthly finances, and looking at the next week's schedule so we know what is going on, things go a lot more smoothly and I'm able to prepare myself mentally for the week's challenges.

ok, so i gained like 45 lbs. when i was preggers and now weigh a little less than my pre-preggers weight...how you might ask?...hmm...i honestly don't know! i do go walking with ilihia everyday except weekends and i find that walking with someone else really helps to keep me motivated and even walk longer than i normally would have. i try to eat healthy, but we all know that doesn't always happen, so just try to watch how much you eat as opposed to what you eat. anywho, i hope you find something that works for you because everyone is different and once you find something that works, stick to it! :)

No advice for weight loss here, but I do need to be a lot more like that mother of 17 and counting. I keep praying for patience and the ability to speak kindly when disciplining, but it's so hard. Thank you for the reminder! I needed it. :) Happy holidays to you and your family!

P.S. How are you guys doing after all that rain? I hope all is well.
