may day is lei day...

...in hawaii!!

on friday morning, jared and i walked over to pcc to watch my niece, karly, perform in the laie elementary may day 3rd grade section. brandon also sang a song for the king's dance. unfortunately, i barely missed it. it's a good thing i get to hear him sing whenever i want!

karly did an awesome job dancing the samoan portion of the may day. it's so cute to see little kids all performing as if they were dancing in the night show. nue says that they've been preparing for months for this momentous event. we can never take for granted that we have pcc's pacific theater for performances such as these. i mean, they had the volcano eruptions going, the fountains at one point, and the huge sound system...it was awesome.

it took me back to my days at laie elementary performing in the may day. when i was in kindergarten, i was partnered with a chinese kid that was almost half my size (i was a tall little girl) to do the tango! that wasn't right. the least my teachers could've done was make sure that a tall girl would be paired with an average sized boy. so when we danced cheek-to-cheek, i had to bend way down. how humiliating... but whatever, i'm not bitter. those were fun times. oh, to be young and carefree...
