sometimes an entire day doesn't go as planned...

we made plans to do something new & different with the kids this past saturday again.  (if you haven't noticed, the hubs has been trying to use all of his vacation hours that he's saved up over the year - since the hours expire in december.  and i'm absolutely lovin' it.)  so brandon & i planned on going to the temple, then afterwards taking the kids to the dole plantation to sample the world's largest maze, and the pineapple express train ride that travels around the plantation.

but instead of the temple, my niece invited us to watch her soccer game in kahuku.  (and you just can't say no to this girl - she's absolutely adorable.) so after watching my niece's soccer game, and picking up another niece to come along for the day, we headed out to go to the plantation in wahiawa.  if i know that we'll be out for the most part of the day, i'll usually pack extra clothes for nahe and some snacks to keep the kids in a somewhat good mood.  we must've rushed out the door really quickly because i forgot all that stuff.  eeeh.

it was a nice peaceful ride into town, but when we stopped to run an errand in mililani i went to check on our little nahe girl who fell asleep in her carseat.  as i reached in to take her out, i gasped in horror.  in our brand spankin' fresh-smelling, gorgeous, new van - she peed.

puddle...

of urine...

brand new car.

UGH.
yes, yes, i know that these wonderful experiences are all a part of being a parent.  it's just that...when it actually happens (in your immaculate, unblemished vehicle)...it's not very easy to just smile and nod and accept it willingly.  in fact, it really just makes you wanna scream and try to keep your head from exploding.

instead, we stopped at walmart.  because walmart really kinda just makes me feel like everything will be alright in the world.  in my opinion.  you know, with rollback prices and all.  =)

nahe needed a dry pair of pants.  and obviously a diaper.  and brandon needed to ease his mind with some upholstery cleaning supplies.

"the urinator" enjoying her time in isolation while daddy cleans up her mess.

see, the world is already a little brighter with a portable car vacuum and a clean bum.

after a thorough cleanup and changing of clothes for the little girl, our spirits needed a little uplifting and our tummies needed a little replenishing...so we went to zippy's.  our happy wallet/happy tummy place!

then as we were getting ready to leave nahe decided to play near the automatic doors of the entrance to the restaurant.  i was talking to ahonui & our niece, and had my back turned for a second (as is inevitably the case when you have your back turned on your child), nahe stuck her fingers in between the closing doors and two of them got squished.  all i heard was a high-pitched squeal from my poor little daughter (who, not long before got seriously reprimanded for the earlier urination incident).  i turned back to her and rushed to release the door off her limp fingers.  i picked her up as she continued to scream and cry and try to soothe her injured fingers.

by that time, brandon & i (and probably nahe too) were pretty much done for the day.  it was about 3:30 in the afternoon.  and the plantation closed at 5...which would leave us only about an hour to see all of it by the time we got there.

our planned out adventurous day would need to take a rain check - as i had had enough excitement for one day.
