looking back at the 2013 year, i feel that i didn't do too shabby keeping to my resolutions that i set for myself and our family. it is said that to set new year's resolutions only sets yourself up for failure for the year. i think that if the goals are too specific or too restrictive, then yes, the possibility to end up disappointed with your goal results by year's end is greater.
to be honest, i've never been staunch on setting actual goals/resolutions for the new year. even for the 2013 year, i didn't plan on being hard-core on self-improvement. but i had a general idea of what i really wanted to work on (spirituality), and what i needed to rid myself of (fat & debt). so to summarize on my (or "our" - because my hubby sure contributed a great deal to the successes as well) progress for the year:
- we paid off our old van's loan
- paid down a huge chunk of our family's credit card debt
- attended temple sessions more regularly
- initiated morning family prayers
- made more healthy decisions with regular exercise, and cleaner eating.
and so the same goes for the 2014 year. my goals are not entirely specific, yet i know and understand what generally needs improvement. i'm far from perfect, but i am in a place now where i'm so truly happy. what is it that i feel can make me happier? here's my " vague-general" resolutions for the 2014 year:
- read the Book of Mormon all the way through by year's end. following @bofm365 on instagram is helping a ton!
- get back into exercising and healthy eating habits after giving birth.
- be a better mommy...practicing patience, being more active outdoors, refraining from yelling, etc.
