the boy is 7!

our first born turned 7 on january third.  the old saying, "it seems like yesterday when they were born..." doesn't really apply here because i feel like we've been through a lot since ahonui was a little one, but time surely does fly.  next thing you know, he'll be getting baptized, graduating high school, getting married, and having babies of his own! gaaah!!
 

to celebrate his special day a little differently (because we usually just have cake & ice cream in our living room...) we invited a bunch of his cousins and a school friend to chuck-e-cheese!  this was officially his first "friend only" party where he didn't have aunties/uncles/grandparents/older cousins, etc. celebrating with him.  and he seemed to enjoy the company from his similar-age peers.

i wanted to make it easy on the parents for the children that we invited, so we packed them all up in our van and drove them to pearl city for the birthday festivities.  i assumed that it would be a hefty responsibility to haul a load of kids to town, supervise them as they run wild with pocketfuls of coin tokens and then stuff themselves with of pizza and cake for several hours...and boy, i was right.  even though all the kids were actually very well behaved and fairly easy to manage, i don't think i'll sign up to take on a bunch of 5-8 year olds again anytime soon (especially while being 8 months pregnant - lol!)

and so my handsome continues to get older, grow taller, and tug on my heart strings a little more each year.  but for now i'm going to revel in his willingness to hold my hand, give me kisses in front of his friends, and cuddle close to me at night.  we love you, ahonui!!
