our happy 4th of july

we enjoyed a very eventful fourth of july this past weekend. although brandon had to go in to work, i had the day off. i spent most of the morning doing laundry, cleaning, and running errands. after i dropped brandon off at work, ahonui and i got ready to go to the beach!

it has seriously been months since i have been able to go swimming, so i was definitely enthused to enjoy a change of scenery and schedule. one of my very best friends, mary latu and her family, came home from utah to visit for the next few weeks, so we went to hukilau together. i was pretty hungry before we left, and i anticipated that mary, wayne, malia, and ahonui would be hungry too, so i packed a nice big lunch for all of us to chow down on at the beach. we spent the next few hours enjoying each other's company, eating, and playing with our babies in the water. it took a little while for ahonui to warm up to mary and wayne - but it took only moments for him to fall in love with malia. they snuck in a few smooches here and there when they were in the ocean...it was too cute.

we headed home after the beach for a little mid-day rest. after dinner, we picked up brandon at work and went to kahuku to witness the fireworks display at turtle bay. lucky for us, brandon's brother hooked us up with some VIP seating up in the kahuku mountains away from the hustle & bustle of turtle bay's traffic. although we had to experience the rain before the sparks of the fireworks, it was well worth the trip up the mountain.

finally, to truly make it a jam-packed fourth of july - we ended the night at my family's 1st ward camp at hukilau. apparently, there was a dance going on for the kiddies, so we let ahonui participate. who'da thunk that our little two-stepper could bust a move?

i just wish i had more three-day weekends like this one. we had too much fun. i hope y'all enjoyed yourselves a fabulous independence day as well!
