flashback friday: maui trip

in july 2006 we flew over with my whole family to attend a 'kukahiko family reunion' for my mother's father's side of the family.

being that my grandfather is currently 97 years old, it was interesting to hear his stories of how makena used to be waaaaaay back in the days. thanks to my generous gramps, we stayed in a beautiful little hotel that had breathtaking views of the makena beachline. we'd sit outside on the lanai with grandpa as he told stories of where he used to play as a little boy. it's so much easier to visualize your grandfather as a child when you actually see the environment that he grew up in. i love old people...especially my grandparents.

we only had a few days there, so we tried to make the most of it. brandon & i rented a car so we drove to the haleakala volcanic national park, the maui ocean center, our kukahiko family house, and of course - krispy kreme donuts...yum! i'm sure there was a lot more touristy things to see in maui, but given that we only had three days there, including family reunion activities, we accomplished quite a bit.

flashing back really makes me realize that i so need another vacation.

I loved my Maui trips. I miss Hawaii sometimes. Thanks for the flashbacks. This one made me realize I need a vacation too! (To Hawaii would be nice!)
